Who We Are
Gearzon (referred to as “Gearzon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website https://gearzon.com, which publishes independent gaming gear reviews, buying guides, and a small selection of gear for sale. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from visitors, readers, and customers, why we collect it, and what choices you have. If you have questions about this policy, you can reach us at cs@gearzon.com.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why
Comments
When you leave a comment on a review or article, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it; the Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available separately. After a comment is approved, your comment text and profile photo (if any) are visible publicly on the post.
Contact Form
Our Contact page uses a form to let you reach us directly. When you submit it, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide, so we can respond to your question, feedback, or partnership request. We do not use this information for any purpose unrelated to answering your message, unless you separately opt in to something else (such as a newsletter, if one is offered in the future).
Store Accounts and Orders
Gearzon also offers a small selection of gaming-related products for purchase. If you create an account or place an order, we collect information such as your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and details of the products you ordered, so we can process and fulfil your order, communicate with you about it, and comply with our legal and accounting obligations. If you check out as a guest, we still need this information to complete the order, but no account is created. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers; when a payment method is enabled at checkout, your payment details are handled directly by our payment processor, which has its own privacy and security practices.
Cookies
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies for a few different purposes:
- Essential cookies – used to keep the site working correctly, for example remembering the contents of your shopping cart or keeping you logged in to your account.
- Preference cookies – if you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies so you don’t have to re-enter them on your next comment. These last for about a year. If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies; it is removed when you close your browser.
- Analytics and advertising cookies – described in the next section.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; blocking cookies may affect features such as the shopping cart or staying logged in. When you first visit Gearzon, a cookie-consent banner lets you accept, reject, or customise which categories of non-essential cookies (functional, analytics, performance) are allowed before they load; necessary cookies required for basic site operation are not affected by this choice.
Analytics and Advertising
We use Google Analytics and Google Site Kit to understand how visitors use Gearzon — for example, which reviews are most popular and how people find the site — so we can improve our content. We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and related tools to measure the performance of our own posts and, if we run ads in the future, to understand their effectiveness. These tools may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, and general location. Google and Meta process this data under their own privacy policies, and in some cases may combine it with other data they hold about you if you have an account with them.
Affiliate Links and Third-Party Sites
Many of our reviews and guides include affiliate links, including links to Amazon and other retailers. Gearzon is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program and similar affiliate programs, designed to provide a means for sites to earn commissions by linking to affiliated stores. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set its own cookies to track that the referral came from Gearzon, so we can earn a commission if you make a purchase — this does not cost you anything extra. We do not receive or store your payment or order details from these third-party purchases; that information is handled entirely by the retailer under its own privacy policy. See our Terms of Service for our full affiliate disclosure.
Embedded Content From Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos or social media posts). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited that other website directly. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who We Share Your Data With
We share personal data only where it is necessary to run the site and fulfil orders: with our web hosting provider, with the analytics and advertising services described above, with a payment processor when one is enabled at checkout, and with shipping carriers if you order a physical product. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically, rather than holding them in a moderation queue. For registered users, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile; users can see, edit, or delete that information at any time (except their username). Order and account information is retained for as long as necessary for accounting, legal, and customer-service purposes, after which it may be anonymized or deleted.
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments or placed an order, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase personal data we hold about you, except where we must keep it for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To make either request, email cs@gearzon.com.
Children’s Privacy
Gearzon is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data we hold, including working with a reputable hosting provider and keeping our software up to date. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as we add new features or as our legal obligations change. We will update the date below when we do, and significant changes will be noted on this page.
Last updated: September 25, 2026.
